OH FUCK OFF YA BIG LAMP

BECAUSE WE'RE THE HUMAN RACE AND WE DON'T LIKE BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO!

Basically every word that comes out of Gary King's mouth.

I reckon The World's End is just as quotable as Shaun of the Dead.

Ohhhh why don't you just get back in your rocket and fuck off back to legoland, you cunt.

Every time my husband and I have to make a drive longer than an hour, I say, "Well, then let's get this antique on the roadshow!"

That kind of humour is what I'm after in a woman. Are you single?

Does anyone know what Gary's doing?

I love how Dude-like he is in how often he internalizes things he’s heard and spouts it himself later. And how almost all of his jokes are terrible wordplay.

“Let’s get this antique back on the road-show!”

It’s all stuff your uncle would say to amuse the kids but even they think it’s kind of sad. And even they notice how drunk the uncle is and they feel kind of sad for all of it, really, even though they can’t yet articulate why.

"There's more than one Gary King!"

"But you just said-"

"...It's pointless arguing with you. You will be left to your own... devices."

"Really?!"

"...Yeah. Fuck it."

Honestly I thought World's End was the weakest of the three. I can quote the other two almost verbatim, but World's End just doesn't reach their level.

I think the closer you are to Gary King the more you enjoy the movie.

The fact that Wright said The World’s End is mint flavor fits super well. It has more darkness and character complexity in it than the other two films. I laugh less overall, but I still love it for what it is.

It’s also mint ‘cos it’s about aliens and aliens are stereotypically green.

Red (strawberry) for Shaun of the Dead and zombies, Blue (the plain chocolate and vanilla flavour) for Hot Fuzz and the police.

Absolutely agree, small town are something you never forget in your life, and a deathtrap for hopes and dreams of advancing in life.

I'm not talking Villages I'm talking small towns.

Yes, I think you’re right.

Or at least, the more you understand from personal experience his situation - never fulfilling your life’s potential, feeling all that promise and possibility as a younger person then realizing you’ll never be anything interesting or great (and that being your fault, for expecting things to just happen to and for you), having lived your best life as a teenager and it’s long behind you…

It’s sad. And relatable.

Yeah that tracks.

Hot Fuzz is my favorite but The World's End is very close. I love Shawn of the Dead too, but I love the other two so much, it can't compete!

Give it another chance, I find it grows on you.

I love them all, but World's End has pulled ahead for me as my favorite.

For a lot of reasons, but one I find interesting is that Shaun and Hot Fuzz are very specific loving homages to genres, while Worlds End is kind of saying it's own thing about toxic friendships, lost potential, and comformity with only a light candy shell of "body snatcher" parody.

It's my favorite as well. I love watching it with people for the first time. As soon as the bathroom scene gets going its always the same WTF reaction.

It's a great film, but it's quite different to the other two. More melancholy, bleaker, the jokes all carrying a distinct edge to them. Still very funny, but less pure and light and joyful, and more unsettling.

I love all three of them to bits.

Except it's the best of the three.

It’s my favourite movie of all time.

I went in not knowing what it was about, looked like a melancholy Edgar Wright film about friendship and losing your life’s potential and all of a sudden… “His head just came off!”

Best movie ever.

Gary holding up his wrists and crying “They told me when to go to bed! Me!” was such a powerful scene.

It's 100% the better movie imo (and honestly my all time favorite movie), but for me I find myself watching Hot Fuzz more often. World's End just hits so deep and I have to be in the mood to be emotionally wrecked.

100 percent agree.

I'd agree, but it's still better than 90% of all movies.

I agree. Hands down the weakest one, while Hot Fuzz was by far the best.
