You know the story came out in 2020

Yes

the media was told to kill it right?

Let's grant you that this is true for the sake of argument. In what universe would that matter? The one without social networks, the FBI, the courts, the immense reach of the Republican party, and international/independent/right-wing/Trump-friendly media, maybe...

Trumps “team” never had access to it

Do you know who Rudy Giuliani is?

There’s a lot more to it than a single sentence.

That'll happen when you exfiltrate all of the data from an individual's personal laptop after a decade of use, yes.

The story was squashed so that it wouldn’t negatively affect Biden’s campaign.

Again, pretending all of those features of reality I listed earlier don't exist... pretending that if it doesn't make it to CNN at prime time, a crime is never punished.

Our government is corrupt.

I know. That's why it's so fucking disgusting to see Republicans pretend they're actually prosecuting corruption in such a cartoonishly, childishly contrived, meaningless and partisan manner. It's beyond pathetic. Shameless doesn't do it justice.

Every aspect of it but keep pretending like it’s only one side.

Show me where I did.

Man, I wish the feckless party consultants that take in millions to strategize for the Dems could figure out what you've just jotted down on reddit. This would be absolutely gorgeous to watch.

They published a bunch of embarrassing photos as revenge porn and constructed a Pizzagate-style conspiracy theory out of a single sentence in an email ("10% to the big guy"). The FBI has had the laptop for a very long time, as have some of the sketchiest, slimiest Republican operatives, including the Trump team and Giuliani, for a very long time. Do you honestly think they wouldn't have published anything more substantive if they had it? You don't think that would've been their "October Surprise" for Biden and/or the midterms? They could take down the fucking president... you think they're keeping their powder dry?

And all that after literally generations of Republicans putting on show trials to baselessly smear the reputations of their political opponents in office. Considering the historical context really does help to frame the present... this is a history that has repeated over, and over, and over, and the outcome is always the same... millions of tax dollars wasted in an effort to distract from matters that actually concern the public. Culture war.

Yeh but like... comparing documented, provable corruption vs. political theater based in conspiracy theory is just peak "both sides" absurdity.

Can't help but notice you dodged my question there, champ. Are you living like you can't be disappointed if you don't acknowledge the last con that took you for a ride before moving on to the next?

They’re not coming out in 2024 with new voters.

Agreed, and let's hope that settles it once and for all, and costs them another round of elections. But the base is authoritarian. I have a hard time believing they won't find spin to resonate with every single one of them to fall in line behind DeSantis... even the ones with Trump's face tattooed on their bodies.

I would've asked why Trump didn't do something about it, if there was something there... I've been wondering what the response would be...

LOL. Remember when Trump said he'd divest from the business that pays he and his children? Stood beside a fold-out table stacked with manilla folders full of blank pages, said it was all legit? Then didn't?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2021/07/19/trumps-business-hauled-in-24-billion-during-four-years-he-served-as-president/?sh=1e97439c10c0

And then, of course, there's this little nugget...

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/05/jared-kushner-affinity-partners-saudi-arabia

Provable, demonstrable, documented, publicly known, irrefutable corruption vs. some cartoonishly pathetic conspiracy theories... it must suck to be Republican, where reality is in perpetual conflict with what they so desperately want to believe.

And you believe the CBS article about the analysis is some big breakthrough, but I bet you had no idea the Washington Post already did this back in March.

Remind me again... how many of Trump's inner circle were actually charged and convicted with regard to Russian collusion?

Files exfiltrated and leaked by extremely dubious sources include embarrassing photos of Hunter, including drug use. Also included are his emails, in which -- much like Pizzagate -- the Republicans and their trolls have twisted insignificant cherry-picked sentences to build conspiracy theory narratives alleging corruption.

Data from a laptop that the lawyer for a Delaware computer repair shop owner says was left by Hunter Biden in 2019 – and which the shop owner later provided to the FBI under subpoena – shows no evidence of tampering or fabrication, according to an independent review commissioned by CBS News.

Brian Della Rocca, the lawyer for the shop owner, provided to CBS News what he called an "exact copy" of the laptop data provided to federal investigators nearly three years ago. Della Rocca said he considers it "clean" because it predates versions that were widely circulated by Republican operatives to attack then-candidate Joe Biden before the 2020 presidential election.

The independent analysis, by two cyber investigators from Minneapolis-based Computer Forensics Services, found no evidence that the user data had been modified, fabricated or tampered with. Nor did it find any new files originating after April 2019, when store records indicate Biden dropped it off for repair.

Source: CBS Nov 21st - Copy of what's believed to be Hunter Biden's laptop data turned over by repair shop to FBI showed no tampering, analysis says

Analysis confirms stolen private, personal data not tampered with because it predates copies Republican operatives have been circulating.

First, that speaks incredibly poorly for the information that has already been circulating. Second, that doesn't change the fact that the chain of custody is cartoonishly untrustworthy. Third, it demonstrates exactly none of the bullshit narrative that Republicans have been trying to circulate to be in any sense factual, or damaging, or relevant, or criminal.

You honestly believe the opportunist Republican sleezebags in office wouldn't have cashed in already if there was anything there? You seriously think that wouldn't have been their October Surprise? Man, I hate to tell ya, but you're gonna be disappointed.
